Catherine, Princess of Wales appeared to sidestep one of the most traditional wedding guest fashion rules during the wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling on Saturday.

At the 2005 wedding of King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort, Queen Elizabeth II wore a creamy white overcoat paired with a matching hat.
Although shades close to white are traditionally reserved for the bride, the late Queen’s look complemented Camilla’s pale blue wedding outfit, showing how royal wedding dress etiquette can sometimes differ from more conventional expectations.
Dress codes also tend to be more relaxed for second marriages, which many observers believe was similarly the case at the wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling on 6 June.
The ceremony marked Peter’s second marriage after previously marrying Autumn Phillips in 2008. The former couple remained married until 2021.
