Prince William Shares Powerful Father-Son Moment as He Brings Prince George to Support the Homeless

The Prince of Wales has taken Prince George to visit a charity that holds special meaning for him, following his earlier promise to introduce his children to a homelessness organization.

Prince William, 43, attended a Christmas lunch hosted by The Passage for its clients alongside his eldest son. A post shared on X by a user named Laura read: “Today I had the absolute pleasure of helping serve at the clients’ Christmas lunch. This is such an important event for The Passage’s clients, many of whom might not otherwise enjoy a proper Christmas meal or celebration. We were incredibly lucky to be joined by Prince William and Prince George.”

The future King became patron of The Passage in 2019, after first being introduced to the London-based homelessness charity more than three decades earlier alongside his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

He has visited the organisation many times over the years, and when his patronage was announced, William reflected on the lasting impact it had on him, saying: “The visits I made as a child to this place left a deep and lasting impression on me — about how vital it is to ensure that everyone in our society, especially the most vulnerable, is treated with respect, dignity, and kindness, and is given the opportunity to fulfil their potential in life.”

William is also a patron of Centrepoint and last week marked 20 years as its “proud” patron. During a visit to the charity’s new London offices, he helped add the final touches to a mural and praised the staff for everything they had “achieved” over the past two decades.

Diana became a patron of Centrepoint in 1992, and her eldest son followed in her footsteps in 2005, making the charity the very first patronage of his public life. At the time, William also spent several days volunteering with the organisation.

In a 2023 interview with The Sunday Times, given as he launched his five-year Homewards programme aimed at ending homelessness in all its forms, William revealed that he had spoken to his three children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, ten, and Prince Louis, seven — about the issue.

Reflecting on the conversation, he said: “When I left this morning, one of the things I was thinking about was when the right time would be to bring George, Charlotte, or Louis to a homelessness organisation.”

William went on to explain: “I think once I can balance it with their schooling, they will definitely be exposed to it. On the school run, we talk about what we see.”

He continued: “When we were in London, travelling back and forth, we would often see people sitting outside supermarkets, and we’d talk about it. I’d ask the children, ‘Why are they there? What’s going on?’”

Emphasising the importance of those conversations, he added: “I believe it’s in all our interests — and the right thing to do — to introduce children to these realities at the appropriate stage, using the right dialogue, so they develop understanding.”

William concluded: “They will grow up knowing that some of us are very fortunate, while others need a little extra support, and that some of us can and should do more to help improve other people’s lives.”
