Princess Kate’s Christmas announcement has given a key indication of the Princess of Wales’s health, a royal commentator has claimed.
The Princess of Wales’s annual carol service at Westminster Abbey will go ahead this year, Kensington Palace has confirmed.
Kate, 42, will host 1,600 guests, including other royals and community leaders from around the UK.
It comes after the Princess of Wales took part in Remembrance commemorations last weekend.
Royal commentator Hugo Vickers claimed Kate is sending a message with her upcoming Christmas concert.
He told The Sun: “I thought if there’s anything that she’s going to do between now and the end of the year, it would be the carol service.
“It would be that carol service because it’s enormously popular.
“It’s become one of the nicest features of the Christmas season.”

Vickers added: “They’ve been hugely successful, the last ones that she did.
“It’s her way of saying thank you and highlighting the needs of people in communities who’ve helped each other.
“I’m sure of all the things that she could have done that was going to be a high priority.
“The fact we’ve been told now she is going to appear on December 6 also indicates that she is able to make that sort of decision.

“Beforehand it was always very much, ‘Let’s see how it is on the day’ – so that’s good news, too.”
Vickers said Kate is channelling the late Queen Elizabeth II’s example as she returns to work.
The royal commentator said: “The words that spring to mind are stoicism and dignity.
“I don’t think you could have a better example of that than Queen Elizabeth II.
“And so there is a wonderful example which certainly the Queen had, Prince Philip had, and Princess Anne has – to just get on with the job.
“They don’t care a jot what people say about [them] or think about [them].
“They leave that up to them.”
Vickers concluded: “Kate certainly has all those qualities. I bet you she learned them from the Queen.”
