Princess Kate arriving in Italy for a solo royal engagement during a major ‘gear change’ trip

Princess Kate Touches Down in Italy Alone as She Begins Major ‘Gear Change’ Visit

Catherine, Princess of Wales has arrived in Italy for her first overseas engagement in several years following her cancer diagnosis—and she quickly impressed locals by speaking Italian during the visit.

The Princess took time to greet young children shortly after arriving, showing off her language skills and earning praise for what some described as her “perfect” pronunciation.

Kate’s two-day visit to sunny Italy centres on a cause that has long been close to her heart: early childhood development. The trip focuses on the famous Reggio Emilia approach, a philosophy centred around early years education and child development. The visit has been described as a significant “gear change” for the Princess as she continues to shine a spotlight on the subject she has championed for years.

The 44-year-old looked elegant on Wednesday as she stepped out in Piazza Camillo Prampolini wearing a striking blue designer suit by Edeline Lee. She later visited Reggio Emilia’s Town Hall, where she met several women credited with shaping the educational approach, including Carla Nironi, Iona Bartoli and Eletta Bertani.
